About the song
In 1999, the Bollands, Falco’s former producers, created a series of sampling songs that found their way first into fan circles and then onto the Internet under the name "The Bolland Tapes". These songs include Angst, Change, Extravaganza, News York City Girls und Where Are You Now? and this track.
At this time, the Bollands had already produced other such songs, mixing Falco’s voice from interviews and existing tracks into newly composed music. These include the homage Tribute to Falco (1998) as well as three songs, which they contributed to Verdammt Wir Leben Noch (1999): (Fascinating Man, We Live For The Night and From The North To The South).
Why the two Dutch brothers created these additional sampling songs is unclear. They seem unfinished and without structure, like experiments done in the studio. Only Where Are You Now? made it to a semi-official release as a free mp3 download, the remaining tracks are only available online on YouTube etc.
A female voice opens this sampling song, then a beat starts and the female voice sings the chorus. Falco’s voice samples are layered over this monotonous background musical atmosphere. The alternating repetition of this element then continues throughout the entire song.
Falco’s voice was mixed in from the song Metamorphic Rocks without any sense or context. In addition to the word “illusion,” the Bollands also sampled “confusion” and “Science is a fusion of genuis hypthesis,” from this track, the brothers sing the rest of the lyrics themselves.
Without any love, respect, fascination or appeal, this Bolland sampling song joins the long line of projects that everyone, even the biggest Falco fan, can do without.

Note: The samples with Falco’s voice come from the song Metamorphic Rocks, 1992.
My text version is based on the text supplements of the official releases (booklet, inlay, cover etc.), if available. However, all lyrics were tapped and corrected according to the sung word. For songs where no lyric supplements are available, my version is based solely on the sung word or also on lyrics circulating on the Internet. Text passages sung in dialect are in moderate transliteration. Spelling errors, both German and English, were corrected in glaring cases. The spelling is based partly on the spelling valid at the time (text supplements), partly on the new spelling (own interceptions). Punctuation marks have generally been omitted. I am grateful for any suggestions for improvement.
