About the song

After Falco’s death, the Bollands, his former producers, made several sampling songs, tracks in which Falco’s voice from interviews or previously published songs was mixed into newly composed music. These incluce Tribute To Falco (1998) as well as the three songs (Fascinating Man, We Live For The Night, From The North To The South) from the compiled album Verdammt Wir Leben Noch (1999).

In addition, six other such sampling songs, which are known as "Bolland Tapes" exist: Angst, Change, Extravaganza, Just An Illusion andWhere Are You Now? . This song was not officially released, only Where Are You Now? was a semi-official release and could be downloaded free of charge as an mp3 file for a short time.

A Caribbean-like beat drives this sampling song. A doubled female voice is also added to Falco’s samples, which is intended to suggest a dialogue. A guitar is added in the chorus. In the middle part the drums and the instrumentation change, then the chorus is repeated until the end of the track.

Falco’s words and sentences, which the Bollands mixed to this newly created song, come from the concert that Falco gave in 1986 as part of the Emotional-Tour in the Eissporthalle in Berlin (a concert that was released 1999 under the name of Live Forever in excerpts and in 2023 in its entirety). The master tapes of this performance were owned by the Bollands because they had recorded and produced this gig on site at the time. For the sampling song, they used text passages from Der Kommissar as well as announcements that Falco had made between the numbers („Ich verstehe, dass ihr heute nicht nach Hause gehen werdet“). Announcements from Falco during the performance of his live band were also included: „We’re talking about girls, right?“, „The girls are in love with each other“. The Bollands use Falco’s remark that one of his background singers comes from New York as the title and mix the words "New York" and "girls" together.

Here too, of course, this makes no sense, nor does the text have any significance or charm.

Like the other sampling songs produced by the Bollands, only Falco completionists will probably be interested in this piece.

Lyrics

Hey man, you man!
Hey man, wanna buy some stoff, man?

Note: The samples with Falco’s voice come from various songs from the concert in the Eissporthalle, Berlin, 1986. Excerpts from this performance can be found on the album Live Forever, which was released in 1999 (in excerpts) and 2023 (in its entirety).

My text version is based on the text supplements of the official releases (booklet, inlay, cover etc.), if available. However, all lyrics were tapped and corrected according to the sung word. For songs where no lyric supplements are available, my version is based solely on the sung word or also on lyrics circulating on the Internet. Text passages sung in dialect are in moderate transliteration. Spelling errors, both German and English, were corrected in glaring cases. The spelling is based partly on the spelling valid at the time (text supplements), partly on the new spelling (own interceptions). Punctuation marks have generally been omitted. I am grateful for any suggestions for improvement.
